Oliver Rittmann
Postdoctoral Researcher ⋆ Political Science
I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Mannheim Center for European Social Research (MZES) at the University of Mannheim. Before joining the MZES, I studied Social Sciences at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and Political Science at the University of Mannheim, where I received my Ph.D. in 2024.
My research focuses on inequalities in political representation, discriminatory behavior among political elites, and political communication.
Methodologically, my research is at the intersection of quantitative political science and computational social science. I am particularly interested in developing and applying computational methods to analyse audiovisual data, such as video recordings of parliamentary speeches.
My work has been published or is forthcoming in the British Journal of Political Science, The Journal of Politics, Political Science Research & Methods, Electoral Studies, and others. I also presented on Video-as-Data Methods for Political Science Research at the International Methods Colloquium, and a video of the talk is available on YouTube.
You can find more information on my research page, CV, and Google Scholar profile.
